Ken's Last Ride with his MK6 Golf GTI

The mighty Volkswagen Golf GTI. Some loved the hell out of it, and some hate it till death. I was going through my messages one day and I saw a new message from the owner - Ken, asking if I could come down to JB for a video and a photo shoot for his car as he's selling it of soon. I like golfs, so why not?

Luck wasn't on our side as we're unable to shoot at the first location, so we went to our backup location. It turned out great! So Ken had own the mk6 for a year already, with a 30k kilometers on dial, quite impressive for a year of ownership though haha.

For the love towards modifying cars, Ken got into the car scene with a bolted on Proton Iriz first, then slowly changed his target towards the current mk6.

So as we were shooting, I asked him out of so many cars, why the mk6 Golf Gti though? His answer was quite simple...

It is one of the best looking hatchbacks with plenty of potential to modify it and it has a decent power itself even in stock.

Couldn't agree more. For me personally, I do also think that the taillights for the mk6 are one of the most sexiest taillights out there.

There's a lot of 'sifu' out there saying that people shouldn't get the golf as the maintenance is expensive, dsg are a pain in the arse, hard to take care, blah blah blah... But that's not what I've heard from Ken. I've asked him to tell me the pros and cons of owning a Golf, and his answer was just enjoyment, fulfillment, and happiness.

So what he did was only upgrades and regular maintenance, and the rest of it is just - floor the car and enjoy what it provides you. Technically I was shocked too, as I have yet to own a continental car, so I still do believe in those 'Myths'. But after a short ride with Ken, and him being kind enough to let me take it out for a spin, it is fascinating I'd say.

So if it's that great in all aspects, why sell it off? That's my question of the day....and Ken's answer is simple.

He had a good offer for the car, and it'll be reaching the 10 year mark next year (Usually have to sell it in cash after 10 years as bank does not approve loans), it can fund his next project, so why not?

Onto the next question, what's the next project? As per Ken, could be either a RS3, Cla45 or a M2. Definitely looking forward for his next build!
